Technical Apparel Designer
Position Summary
Agilite is seeking an experienced technical apparel designer to join its talented R&D team. The candidate will design innovative performance garments that give the modern Special Forces Operator and others advantages over existing military or outdoor apparel. They will use detailed product briefs and work closely with our partners and developers to push the boundaries of performance apparel.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Technical Design: Develop detailed technical drawings, specifications, prototypes and tech packs for garments, considering factors such as fit, fabric properties, durability, and performance requirements.
- Material Selection: Research and select appropriate materials, fabrics, and trims for technical apparel designs, considering factors such as functionality, comfort, durability and cost.
- Prototyping and Sampling: Collaborate with sample makers and production teams to create prototypes and samples of designs, ensuring that they meet quality standards and design specifications.
- Fit Testing and Evaluation: Conduct fit tests and evaluations of prototypes to assess comfort, functionality, and performance, and make necessary adjustments to achieve optimal fit, performance and durability.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product development, manufacturing and marketing, to ensure that designs meet technical, aesthetic and market requirements.
- Trend Research: Stay updated on cutting edge emerging trends, technologies, and innovations in technical apparel design, raw materials and manufacturing processes to inform design decisions and stay ahead of market demands.
- Quality Assurance: Collaborate with quality assurance team to establish and maintain quality standards for technical apparel designs, ensuring that products meet performance, durability, and safety requirements.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Design (Fashion, Apparel, or Textile Engineering)
- 5+ years’ hands-on experience designing functional apparel
- Knowledge, skill and ability in mentoring others on the design process, including patterning, sewing, and garment construction
- Functional knitwear design experience-advantage
- Advanced technical and creative skills to pattern and prototype new products
- An excellent team player with the ability to take direction, work with minimal supervision
- Technically proficient with 5+ years’ experience using Adobe Illustrator, Optitex, Gerber or an equivalent pattern software.
- Comprehensive familiarity with technical fabrics, materials, and manufacturing processes used in performance apparel.
- Proven project management experience, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and solve problems.
- Flexibility and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines in a dynamic company experiencing rapid growth.
- Professional level English-Compulsory
